MAN IDENTIFIED AND ARREST MADE
Dundas man identified and arrested for arson in Dundas community
On Friday September 18, 2015 just shortly after 4pm Detectives within the Hamilton Police Service BEAR Unit released surveillance video obtained during their investigations, into a series of recent arson’s within the Dundas community.
The video and photos were shared with local news teams and posted on a number of the Hamilton Police Service’s social networking profiles (Facebook, YouTube and Twitter).
The response from the community in regards to the video was immediate. The online community started rapidly sharing the information with the goal of identifying the man and seeking out anyone with information that could assist Detectives. As a result, information began flowing into the police and the man was quickly identified with additional information obtained to assist the police with the arson investigation.
Just shortly after 2:30am, a 25 year old man shown on the video was arrested when he was observed by police in the area of 10 Cootes Drive in Dundas. He was arrested and taken into police custody without incident.
Police have opposed bail however; the name of the man cannot be released until he is before the courts later today. (Saturday September 19, 2015)
Investigations are still ongoing and additional charges may follow.

Police release images and video of a man after a series of arsons in Dundas
For Immediate release Sept 18th, 2015
Hamilton, ON
The Hamilton Police Service has been actively investigating a series of fires that are suspected of being intentionally set within garbage dumpsters in the Dundas area. These fires are all within close proximity of one another and are similar in nature and are occurring between the hours of 11:00pm to 5:00am.
The most recent arson occurred on Monday September 14, 2015 just shortly after 11:00pm in the McDonald’s restaurant located at 10 Cootes Drive in Dundas within the garbage dumpster. Previous to the most recent fire, on August 29, 2015 just after 2:30arm a fire was also set within the Pizza Pizza garbage dumpster at 4 Cootes Drive.
Investigators have been able to obtain digital images and video during their investigation and are releasing the images of a suspect in hopes that someone can identify him and assist with the investigation.

Police are encouraging the community to continue to report any suspected suspicious activities, people or vehicles in their neighbourhoods using 905-546-4925 or for emergencies or crimes in progress dial 9-1-1.
